Prince William Sound

After 5-days of continuous rain in Prince William Sound, the weather finally broke with a single day remaining of my Alaskan tour. With the promise of clear blue sky, there was no better place to go than Whittier and Prince William Sound Cruises for their "Wilderness Explorer Glacier Cruise". This 6-hour cruise takes in the beautiful Esther Passage before exploring Harriman Fjord and Barry Arm. 'Surprise', 'Cascade', 'Barry' and 'Cox' tidewater glaciers (Glaciers that reach the sea) are visited in close-up whilst numerous hanging glaciers (Glaciers that descend part way down mountain sides) litter the surrounding mountains. In the distance can clearly be seen the Medial moraines (the dark stripes running down the middle of a glacier which is pulverized rock pushed up between two merging glaciers) of Harvard Glacier.
